Starting Tomorrow (Things are going to be different)

Starting Tomorrow (Things are going to be different)

Handmade book, 2017.

The cover drawing is from a remembered photo in my mind, something I remembered reading about. There had been a story about war refugees in Idomeni, Greece making a "pretend" refugee news station because of the absence of media covering the catastrophe. The poem inside my book draws a line between violence within the US borders, and wars abroad. It’s about the effects of disaster and violence on the way humans experience time, and the ability of all forms of language to mean and have capital in crisis.

(Special thanks to Chris Funkhauser for inviting me to read part of it on his WGXC program, “Poet Ray’d Yo.”)
